Some tasting kits let you explore what's already on the shelf. This one doesn't work that way.

Two of the six bottles here — the Prime Barrel 11 Year Kentucky Bourbon and the A. Altschuler & Co. 19 Year Single Barrel — haven't launched yet. You're tasting the decision before you make it. Three more bring together Altschuler's most architecturally complex release to date and the complete Raconteur Rye Gemini dual release — a project that exists because David Jennings and The Woodwork Collective's James Symons were running two separate batches simultaneously, and the whiskey itself decided they belonged together.

Then there's the sixth bottle. We're not telling you what it is.

Mashbill, proof, age — you'll figure it out live on April 8th. Or you won't. Either way, it's one of the most interesting pour of the night.

What's Inside
  • 1 x 1.5 oz Prime Barrel 11 Year Kentucky Bourbon (Preview — launches April 2026 | 102 Proof) Distilled at Buffalo Trace in June 2008, then re-barreled into 48-month air-seasoned Minnesota oak from Kelvin Cooperage for a rare secondary aging. At 102 proof cask strength, it's denser and more confectioned than its 10-year predecessor: dark cherry compote, brûléed sugar, and vanilla bean on the nose; black cherry, maple candy, and polished wood tannin on the palate; cocoa nib, toasted pecan, and seasoned oak on a finish that rewards patience. This kit is your pour before the public launch.
  • 1 x 1.5 oz A. Altschuler & Co. 19 Year Single Barrel KY Bourbon Prime Barrel Pick (Preview — upcoming | 57.23% ABV | 19 Years) Fifteen years in American oak built the foundation. Four years in French oak changed the conversation. Where lesser finishing programs leave a detectable seam between base spirit and added wood, Barrel 22-W reads as a single integrated thought — deep caramel and vanilla bean on the nose, cocoa and dried cherry through the mid-palate, toasted almond and baking spice threading toward a finish with genuine old-library maturity: cigar box, polished leather, a wine-like dryness that sustains long after the sweetness fades. One hundred bottles. The Second Pull saved the most complete expression for last.
  • 1 x 1.5 oz A. Altschuler & Co. 19 Year "Ebony" Single Barrel KY Bourbon (55.45% ABV) Two mature streams married inside a single cured-oak cask and given time to fully integrate. "Ebony" earns its name: black caramel, espresso crema, cocoa nib, and spiced plum on the palate, with cured oak lending a drying cadence that keeps the sweetness in check. The finish runs long and inky — resonant in a way that a 110-bottle outturn either justifies or doesn't. This one does.
  • 1 x 1.5 oz Raconteur Rye "Gemini I" (The Woodwork Collective x David Jennings | 126.6 Proof | 8 Year Indiana 95/5) Eight-year Indiana 95/5 rye finished across three vessels: Mizunara oak, 48-month cured and toasted American oak, and ex-Indiana 51% rye barrels. Butter toffee and singed orange peel on the nose, peppery caramel and blood orange on the palate, a long finish with fizzy cola, clove, and sassafras threading through the back. At 126.6 proof it has real presence — the three-wood finishing keeps it coherent rather than combative.
  • 1 x 1.5 oz Raconteur Rye "Gemini II" (The Woodwork Collective x David Jennings | 120.8 Proof | 8 Year Kentucky 95/5) Same mash bill, same age, different state, different finishing entirely. Kentucky 95/5 rye finished solely in Mizunara — darker in register than Gemini I, denser on the nose with cake frosting and vanilla crème. English toffee, caramel, and strawberries and cream on the palate; rich custard, toasted oak, and warm baking spice on a finish carrying barrel-aged citrus and butterscotch. Tasting Gemini II after Gemini I is how both bottles fully reveal themselves.
  • 1 x 1.5 oz ??? Mystery Bottle We picked it. We finished it. We're not saying another word about it.

On April 8th, you'll nose it, taste it, and tell us what you think is in the glass. Grain bill. Age. Proof. Finish. Take your best shot — the call is where we find out how well this community actually knows its whiskey. One hint: it's finished in something you don't see every day. Beyond that, the bottle stays sealed until we open it together.

Why This Collection Belongs in Your Glass

  • Pour Before You Buy: Two bottles in this kit — the Prime Barrel 11 Year and the Altschuler 22-W — launch after April 8th. The tasting is your advance verdict before committing to either full bottle.
  • Altschuler at Full Depth: Barrel 22-W and Ebony together represent 210 bottles across two expressions with distinct wood stories, 19 years of maturation, and finishing decisions that integrate rather than decorate.
  • The Gemini Comparison No Other Kit Offers: Gemini I and Gemini II share the same mash bill and age — and taste strikingly different because of state of distillation and finishing approach. Side by side is the only way to fully understand what each one is doing.
  • One Bottle, No Context: The Mystery Bottle is deliberately undisclosed. Mashbill, proof, age, finish — all of it stays hidden until April 8th. Come with a theory. Leave with an answer.
