Discover the 9-Year Single Barrel pick from Mash & Journey, part of Pinhook’s acclaimed Bourbon Vertical Series. This single barrel offers a vibrant tasting experience and a remarkable journey of flavors as these premium MGP barrels. Bottled at 123.3 proof and unfiltered at cask strength, this expression showcases Pinhook’s dedication to capturing the evolving nuances of age and craft.
Tasting Notes:
-
Nose: Leads off with sweet oak and cream soda. Candied orange peel also makes itself known, which leads to a slight bump of cherry cola and caramel apples with allspice and cinnamon on the backend.
-
Palate: The experience starts on the first sip with a burst of cherry, almonds, and oak. The caramel apple hits the mid-palate, which brings you into a rich candied orange finish that lasts for days. This bourbon bridges the gap between older and newer style MGP flavor profiles. As this bourbon opens up, the sweetness, as does the spice, comes to the forefront. All-spice and a hint of cardamom
round out the finish.
-
Finish: A smooth, lasting finish with complex spice and sweetness.
Crafted from MGP barrels with a mash bill of 75% corn, 20.5% rye, and 4.5% malted barley, this Pinhook release is part of a carefully monitored selection, waxed in the series’ signature gold. Limited quantities available—don’t miss the opportunity to experience this premium, expertly crafted bourbon.
From Jason of Mash & Drum:
"Partnering with Prime Barrel, this is the first Pinhook single barrel selection from the Mash and Journey Whisky Club. We were sent three excellent 9-year single barrels from Pinhook that ended up being a pretty tough choice. Barrel 2095 ended up being a landslide winner, which is saying a lot since our other two options were excellent.

It's one of our favorite single barrels this year."
