A milestone deserves a proper bottle. Prime Barrel Pick #150 celebrates our 150th single-barrel release with one of Kentucky’s most storied ryes—Wild Turkey Private Selection. Chosen in Lawrenceburg by eight Prime Barrel members, this barrel rose above the rest for its balance of old-school spice, citrus brightness, and deep caramel sweetness.
Wild Turkey never abandoned rye. Even when the category faded, the distillery kept distilling rye in small annual runs, preserving a flavor profile that shaped American whiskey. Today, under Bruce Russell’s guidance, the Rye Private Selection program highlights that heritage with just 100 barrels released each year—and only three reach New York.
This bottle commemorates that legacy with a playful nod to distillery folklore: an Angry Bird taking aim at a rogue drone that dared to buzz the rickhouses (true story: we lost a drone that day as it was flying over the river adjacent to the distillery as it was attached by a buzzard). It’s the sequel to our first sticker, and a reminder that great whiskey should never take itself too seriously.
