I'm appreciating the Dad's Hat "Hat Trick" Rye Whiskey more and more as I let the bespoke blend speak for itself instead of boxing it in to past rye experiences. The nose is bright and floral, reminiscent of cherry blossoms. There's a silky coating on the roof of my mouth from the first sip and the floral notes from the nose imprints on the palate. A delicate balance of flavors follow through from stone fruits to cardamom, and a jab of oak that makes me anticipate a follow up hook but remains pleasantly tame. A classy bespoke blend that highlights the beauty of each barrel while rounding out the corners.
Admittedly, I was not immediately on board with the whole “club thing” and other folks tasting/rating whiskeys. After growing bored with the commercially available options, I gave PB a try. After 3/4 multi bottle purchases I can happily say that all have been excellent including the straightforward taste descriptions.
This offering is another winner. One of the smoothest high proof ryes that I have ever tasted. Highly recommended.
